Our Story

Founded in 2020 as a small, family-run organization, Kids Rise Fund was created by the
Stohr-Hendrickson family and members of their care team to support children with developmental disabilities and complex medical needs, as well as their extended families, school and community networks. Founders Whitney Stohr and Jason Hendrickson were inspired to launch Kids Rise Fund as a charitable organization following their experience supporting their son Malachi, who was born in 2018 with developmental disabilities that required extensive medical intervention and treatment. Now six years old, Malachi is thriving within his community and currently serves as a Youth Member of the Kids Rise Fund Board of Directors, alongside his younger sibling DJ. Kids Rise Fund continues to work through multiple avenues to promote greater inclusion and opportunities for all kids to achieve their own version of success.

Donna Jean Mazie Memorial Fund

Following the passing of Donna Mazie, a beloved family matriarch, in February 2026, a memorial fund was established to support inclusive spring season events and activities for children and youth with disabilities and their families across Washington State. Donna loved children, and supporting children with disabilities was near and dear to her heart. Her family fondly remembers the backyard Easter egg hunts she would orchestrate for her grandkids each year. She would appreciate that programs supporting inclusive and accessible participation for all children were offered sponsorship in her honor.
